The prince and the frog

 

Once there was a prince who lived in a big castle. He was always alone and wanted to make friends. One day he decided to take a walk in the forest behind the castle.

When he saw a pool, he decided to sit there for a while and watch the fish swimming in the water. Suddenly he heard a soft voice say, “Hello, prince. Who are you?”

The prince looked over and saw a frog sitting on a rock in the pool. He was surprised and replied, “I am the prince of this land. Who are you?”

The frog replied, “I am an ordinary frog, but I am very clever. What are you doing here in the forest, prince?”

The prince told the frog about how he was always so often and that he wanted to make friends. The frog listened intently and then said, “I can help you, prince. If you take me to your castle, I can introduce you to all my friends in the castle.”

The prince was so happy that he took the frog on his hand and took him to the castle. When they arrived, the frog introduced the prince to the castlecat, the kestrel, the donkey and the other animals in the castle. The frog also told about his other friends in the forest such as the squirrel, the rabbit and the tawny owl. The prince was so happy to have all these new friends and never be alone again.

From that day on, the prince always had something to do with his new friends. And the frog? He was proud that he had helped the prince find new friends.

 

De prins en de kikker

 

Er was eens een prins die in een groot kasteel woonde. Hij was altijd alleen en wilde graag vrienden maken. Op een dag besloot hij een wandeling te maken in het bos achter het kasteel.

Toen hij een poel zag, besloot hij om er een tijdje te blijven zitten en te kijken naar de vissen die in het water zwommen. Plotseling hoorde hij een zachte stem zeggen: “Hallo, prins. Wie ben jij?”

De prins keek om en zag een kikker zitten op een rots in de poel. Hij was verbaasd en antwoordde: “Ik ben de prins van dit land. Wie ben jij?”

De kikker antwoordde: “Ik ben een gewone kikker, maar ik ben wel erg slim. Wat doe jij hier in het bos, prins?”

De prins vertelde de kikker over hoe hij vaak alleen was en dat hij graag vrienden wilde maken. De kikker luisterde aandachtig en zei toen: “Ik kan je wel helpen, prins. Als je me meeneemt naar je kasteel, kan ik je voorstellen aan al mijn vrienden in het kasteel.”

De prins was zo blij dat hij de kikker op zijn hand nam en hem meenam naar het kasteel. Toen ze aankwamen, stelde de kikker de prins voor aan de kasteelkat, de torenvalk, de ezel en de andere dieren in het kasteel. Ook vertelde de kikker over zijn andere vrienden in het bos zoals de eekhoorn, het konijn en de bosuil. De prins was zo blij om al deze nieuwe vrienden te hebben en nooit meer alleen te zijn.

Vanaf die dag had de prins altijd wat te doen, samen met zijn nieuwe vrienden. En de kikker? Die was trots dat hij de prins had geholpen nieuwe vrienden te vinden.
